Rumblings

Monday, January 27th, 2003

Dear Marius,
What with all this rumbling, you sound like a volcano that’s about to blow!
What’s the matter, can’t your computer access cards or do you have webTV?
Don’t feel tooo bad, my computer can only access about ONE in three and
then it takes an aeon to download.
BTW, I found a picture of a cute guy with a mustache in my attachments
folder. Is that you?

Hating Marius

We have a lousy poem in USA - can’t remember it all, but: I think it’s:
Nobody loves me,
everybody hates me,
guess I’ll go eat worms;
little ones, crawly ones,
big ones, smelly ones,
gosh how they do squirm.
Happy eating 8^ D LOL

Hi Dawn,
My son Bradley is 9 and was diagnosed in June. I was really apprehensive
about school but his teacher has been really supportive. I went to his class
last week at her suggestion and talked to the kids about diabetes, Brad
showed them how to give a shot, check his blood sugar, etc. We talked to them
about why he must have snacks when no one else can and I asked them all to
help by watching him for signs of low blood sugar. They asked lots of
questions and it made them happy to be able to be a part and be able to
understand. It made me feel better to know that his classmates now know the
signs of low blood sugar and will be on the lookout for me.
My biggest worry with this school is that they have no nurse (It is a
small, private school), but I will be working only 5 minutes away, so I feel
pretty safe.
I loaded his teacher down with information that I had printed from the
Internet, and she was very thankful, since she was clueless about diabetes. (

Blood sugar woes

Dear Iris,
I have the same kind of mood to bg ratio. When I’m upset it skyrockets. I
try to avoid emotional rollercoaster rides as much as possible.
This may sound a little far out, but I find that yogic breathing helps me
even out my feelings and when I do better, so do my bgs. Have you ever
considered trying yoga? I’m trying to get back to going on a regular
schedule, but my life has been pretty topsy turvy for a while now.
By the way, I’m wondering if there’s a list for treating diabetes with
holistic methods (in addition to the usual). Is anyone aware of such a list
or website?

Prime Directive

I can’t believe James T. Kirk ever missed an opportunity, no matter what
the prime directive said, but I might have been napping the one time he
did, (I guess).

ReWelcome

Friday, January 24th, 2003

Hello, everyone! I recognize some of the names from the archives I checked
out, but not all, so I am excited to be a part of the group. My son is 6
1/2 and was diagnosed April of 1998. We suspect he’s had diabetes much
longer than that. We are having trouble with the school now, a new
principal and he’s going all day. Preschool and kindergarten were pretty
good. So, we have a lot of adjustments and “suggestions” to deal with.
This has really been hard on us since school started and we’re switching
doctors at the same time.
I am looking forward to this group and all of your comments and experiences.
Hope you had a great holiday!
Dawn

Sleepin’ in

Thursday, January 23rd, 2003

The day gets messed up a lot because the insulin overlaps. Anyway
mine did on the types I took. If it stretched too long before the shot, it
ran out; then the overlap the next day. I love pumping.
