Sarah = 2 Vs 4

Pay no attention to what???
I never saw those URL’s and websites and don’t even realize that
the subscribers want to push me aside by sending these things to
each other, things that let me feel completely left out of the
diabetics family…no I never paid any attention to it…
I’m so poor I cannot even pay attention…

I’m not sure if we have the pumps in Australia. I’d never heard of them
until I joined this, and a couple of other lists. None of the doctors I’ve
been to have ever mentioned them. Only syringes and the pen. I see an
endo. (I also have a GP but only for other stuff) Plus a podiatrist and an
optomotrist. My endo is actually a diabetic himself.
    Sarah.

    You have Endo’s??
So THAT’S the reason we can’t find any in South Africa, all the
Endocriminologists have fled to Oz on the chicken run!!!! :^ )
I’ve also had an Optimist but he turned into a Pessimist after the
    Great Chicken Run…immigrated to Oz..

In 1983 my endo and one other in Indy were the only 2 in Indiana who
prescribed pumps. Can you print out the info you have found or e-mail
MiniMed and Disetronics for info? Take it to your endo and maybe he’ll be a
pioneer in this field in Australia. Especially since he is also a diabetic
    (Ty[pe I or II?).

My endo is a type 1. He’s on the pen. As I’m going to see the diabetes
educator before I go back to see my endo again, I’ll talk to her and see
    what she says.
Also, my endo said that at the hospital there is some kind of group for
young adults with diabetes which he’ll put me in touch with which should be
    good!
    Sarah.

Yep…..although some of them aren’t very good! Some of them have an “I
know everything, everything I say is right and everything you say is wrong
blah blah blah” attitude……but I guess you get that everywhere!
    LOL
    Sarah.

    Hello Sarah and all,
Unfortunately I’ve just had to unsubscribe to this list as I was getting too
much email at work to cope with!
But before I go, Sarah, I just wanted to say that I also live in Melbourne so
maybe you might want to email me individually?
Pumps have been around in Australia for years too. I have chosen to use the pens
and love them. A pump sounded more inconvenient to me, but that was a few years
ago when the needles probably weren’t so good and the pumps bigger. My control
seems fine using the pen and 2 sorts of insulin.
I have attended the Royal Melbourne Hospital for years and see a great
endocrinologist there, before that I went to the Royal Children’s Hospital and
was really glad I started there because they gave us a really good attitude to
our diabetes and encouraged us to do anything in life we wanted to. For example
I love travelling and have trekked the Himalayas, sailed the Greek Islands,
white water rafted in Canada…and would do more if I could afford it! I took up

bushwalking so I could have an excuse to eat a lot more and especially lollies!
By the way I’m 44 and have diabetes for 35 years.
Good bye to all of you
    Valma
