Injected Insulin - drops

Another reason for a pump.

Injected Insulin

Saturday, July 26th, 2003

I have a question for those of you who inject insulin. When I take my
shot, after I pull the syringe out occasionally a large drop of insulin
will leak out. Sometimes it is just a tiny bit, other times it seems to
be a lot. I have no way of knowing exactly how much it is. Have any of
you had this problem? What can I do to keep this from happening? When
it looks like a lot of insulin, I have no idea if it is enough to effect
my bg.
This is my shot procedure, just to give you some background. I usually
inject in my thigh because it is more convenient. I pinch up an inch
(more like two or three <g
slow steady pressure, release the pinched skin, and then wait a few
seconds to remove the needle.
If you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it!

ATTN: Laura Fleagle,
Wouldn’t 3+ ketones in T-2 Marius’ urine be a forerunner to DKA then if
untreated to possible coma? Set me straight. 8^ )

I’ve had to wee-wee in a bottle and the Doc told me that I have
+++ keychains in my urine. Also heard that nightmares are
indications of possible night hypo’s.

Question of the Week 9/19

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2003

The diabetes seems to be the root of my “blues” most of the time since dx.
The funny thing is that last month at the Indiana State Fair I stopped by the
Pfizer booth to pick up freebies. A woman working the booth cornered me and
asked me to take a depression assessment quiz. I answered the questions as
honestly as I could — at that time. When she scored my quiz, it concluded
that I was in the good range (or whatever they called it). That came as a
surprise to me. I always thought that I did suffer from occasional mild
depression. Maybe the dm is helping me to accept or take charge of things in
my life that I never did before.
One thing is for sure, nothing makes be blue quicker than a high number “out
of the blue.”
Connie
P.S. Sorry I didn’t participate earlier in the week. Things have been VERY
busy lately!
