Iris’ SitRep

Does one think one has bitten off more than one can chew? (sorry about the
bird thing - probably can’t use it for T’giving) Do you have *potluck* in
Canada? That’s your solution. If you can provide the meat, let each one
bring a dish to complete the meal. That’s what we do. Start a new tradition.
All will be happy.

    BAH! I hate this!
    Iris who is cranky
Hey, I feel bad for you rollercoster riders. I know I wasn’t to nice to live
with for a while before I was diagnosed and I was diagnosed at 275! I can’t
imagine just how cranky I would be way up where you are. How can you get it
back down? I’m sorry I am asking all these questions!
Everyone go for a walk and lower your *sweetness*,

Hey, it’s high, but it isn’t WAY up (160-180). Not like in the 200s or
anything. And I did go for a walk, but it didn’t help :-( If it was REALLY
high, I would take more insulin, but I decided just to wait until it was
    time for my suppertime insulin.
Ok Good that that isn’t way up there. I am new to this and I think anything
above 140 is too high. See I can’t fix mine without exta exercise and less
    carbs.

Iris, I just read your post about your bg’s being high. Mine have also.
Went to Dr today (I just love my Dr.) He contributed my bg’s being from
stress and sinus infection (AGAIN!!!!!) He increase my glucopage by 500mg and
decreased my insulin and I only take the insulin if my bg is over 140. I
hate being out of control one instance I am high and the next thing I know I
am low. I am hardly ever hungary and have to make myself eat. He did give
his blessings for low carb diet as long as I don’t overdo fat or underdo the
carbs. He suggested 80 to 90 carbs a day. Did I understand you just
experienced a real bad low and now they are high? I can tell you it is very
frustrating to go through this. I went to San Antonio with my husband last
week and the food is very different. I can’t say I was really bad but my
sugars stayed really high. I did not eat sweets but that is a city full of
carbohydrates!!! LOL!! You take care of yourself. Hugs Shelia :O)

Take your imagination back 40 years and raise/train kids not knowing what’s
happening inside your body due to no home BG tests and few coverage shots
because you couldn’t know the BG. Talk about cranky. WISH I could do it
over. But can’t. It sure is great for diabetics now. That may sound
stupid — but try to understand the difference in what I meant.

BG is now 4.4 (88 mg/dl) but I don’t know when John will be here - he
doesn’t actually live with me, it just seems like it sometimes :-) No,
he’s here about three days a week.
    Iris,
Are you now going low? Maybe it will just stay at 88. No wonder you are
cranky with it going up and down.

Well, it is higher than it SHOULD be, but it isn’t major major high. LIke
last weekend I was creeping close to 500 mg/dl. Now THAT was MAJORLY high!
    Iris
I should have said I CAN fix mine with exercise and lower carbs. Does this
happen to you often.where you are up and down? Maybe you need to go see tge
    DR.

I am sorry you are feeling so bad, Gail. I know sinus infections are really
painful. I hope you feel better soon and are able to get some sleep!

insulins, but I am still adjusting to the new insulin (changed from Lente
after 25+ years to NPH). Have to go see the doctor - you all bug me to
    phone her on Monday!
    Iris

So actually supplimental doses of insulin are
the only way for TI to get theirs down when much over
    200. Hope this answers some questions.
    Gail
    Thanks Gail,
There really is a difference between both types. I have soo much to learn
yet. How long have you been diagnosed. You are Type 1, right?
