chicken pox
I have a question for the day. How many diabetics on this list ever had chicken
pox?
I understand it is one of the diabetes-related diseases. So is shingles. I
didn’t feel good when my brother had Chicken Pox. I had shingles at age 18
(dx’d T-1 at 11).

I had chicken pox as a very young child. I was so young I don’t remember
having it. I did have one outbreak of shingles when I was in my early 30s. I
was diagnosed at the age of 16.

Gail,
Are you saying that now you have had chicken pox a 3rd time? Are you feeling
any better?
I went to that yearly-visit doc today and he dx’d me with a bladder
infection (’twas coincidental — it started 2-3 days ago). He told me to
drink lots of water (neph said that would overwork my failing kidneys) and
prescribed an antibiotic (to fill AFTER I would check with neph). Neph was
gone so a substitute prescribed something else because GYN’s Rx would do
more kidney damage. I’m allergic to the one sub-neph Rx’d and he had left
the office already when nurse gave it to me. She said I could wait ’til
Monday. NO! My BG has been elevated because of it anyway. So walked in
on endo to get something else. Hope it starts working soon.

It isn’t her discomfort so of course you could wait until Mon!!!! I do hope
it works real fast.

Jan I did not have chicken pox until I was 34. It was awful and I had them
really bad. I did not however develop the shingles. My doctors said that it
was rare that it did not turn into shingles. All I know is it was awful. My
two younger brothers did not get them until they were in their early thirties
either. My son did get them when he was 14 and I was so glad he did not have
to experience this as a adult. Hugs Shelia
