Gail,
This is another reason it would be nice to be closer...i am up before the
birds everyday and I would love to take you to do errands early!

Gail. I agree with you about transportation. People who can just get in
a vehicle and drive away donot realize what luxary that they have. I was
one of those people for 47 years and now i depend on share a van which is
the pits, friends, family, etc. I can use the bus if I can get to it. I
hate the fact that I am not able now to ride a bike or walk that far
because of my sight or heat. It is hard when there are more than one
thing you have to worry about. I really feel like I can not go to enough
meeting to get this changed for all of us. Even in a big city there is
not help for us. I get so frustrated. At times I HATE it. Independence
is one of the most important thing to make you feel self sufficient.
When that is take from you you are NOT INDEPENDENT....it hurts. If you
have never had it you learn to deal with it. When you have had it it is
worse because youdo not know how to deal with it. I have had over 3
years of fighting for this cause and it is at a snail pace but hopefully
it will work in the future if not for me for others. I WILL NOT GIVWE
<!--more-->
UP!!!!! Gail...you just need tofind the right ear to listen to you. You
can make a difference. Becki

In USA perhaps public passenger drivers cannot be diabetic, but other
professions you can be on med, but not insulin. The CDL has about 4 parts
and my hugsband carries the complete license for all parts. The difference
in professional and amateur = pay.
WHAT E L S E IS FOR LUNCH???????

No, you know - self-diagnosis and self-treatment. But he's only home
weekends and doc ain't in then. Otherwise he has to schedule time off, etc.
If it's an official dx then it's on his record, etc. I remind him that his
older brother has DM-2 and has had open heart surgery. I told him last night
I didn't want anyone to call me with bad news.
My hips are hurting equally today. My pain has GREATLY lessened from a week
ago. But I can tell a lot of it stems from hitting the driveway 9/23. I had
told backologist that something had to happened with my neck/head. He said,
"Let's see how the next 3-4 visits go." I think, if it's not that much
better after 6 months -- how are 3-4 more treatments going to help. I'm not
taking the sleep-inducing pain pills or muscle relaxers any more. Sometime
this week I'm taking my mug to the lab to get tested for lead or whatever.
Tomorrow I give a *color/style* speech at the YWCA. I should be able to
stand that long. Read something that said to not speak free for longer than
20 min. - unless they pay to hear you longer. Well, I get a free dessert so
<!--more-->
you know this silent ol' biddy will probably talk at least 21 min. (tee hee)
Glad you're back home. How's the ciggy habit?

How does driving affect your diabetes, and vice versa? When my hugsband
left last night, I tested him and he was 165!!! I don't want to be his *dr.*
cause you know I ain't a REAL one (just play one for my own amazement), but
kind of afraid he'll be MORE unemployable (61 1/2 now) since he's looking
for a job closer to home. He may need a med or something. I'm encouraging
about his choice intake - but you know eating on the road is difficult.
Jan
Jan,
Has your hugsband gone to the doctor yet about the likelihood of having
diabetes?
