I got a call today to be a standby fill-in at the YWCA after the Healthy
Eating Luncheon tomorrow. It’s National Diabetes Awareness Month and they
are confused by the note left by the person who is doing the *before*
program. Not sure about *after.* I have to get my already-prepared speech
together to take with me for that just in case. They are going to feed me
(that will save me $4. 8^)
So, I’m going to go rest so I’ll be fresh and beautiful in the a.m. HA!

No kidding how are you? how is your son? how are you? THings are settling
down around here finally. I am finding more time online. Jonathan has
another concert tonite in jazz. So I will be going to that. The days are
getting cooler and the nite cold. I cooked a good dinner today and in a good
mood. Wonder how Marius is doing today. Iris seems to be doing good. So
does Becki and Christine. Anyway I was just chattin!!!! Hugs Shelia :O)
Thanks for asking, Shelia.
Well, I did do that speech at the Y. About 25 were there. They had a
Diabetes Educator talk about feet at 11:30, we had Thanksgiving dinner -
healthy style, then I talked at about 1:15. I forgot to keep track of time.
Director said to watch if they fall asleep (after lunch) and wing it from
there. One lady did nod off immediately and I figured she may have had a
somewhat high BG (just a few T-2’s there - rest non-diabetics). I was the
youngest one, I believe (60). If more than that fell asleep, w e l l l l ,
But, they indicated they loved me and some asked for a card so I gave them a
whole flyer (pure propaganda). They were really fascinated with my pump (I
am too). I taught them how to make wise choices for holiday meals. I have a
poster that shows:
tennis ball = 1/2 cup serving
ping pong ball = 1 oz. cheese
deck of cards = 3 oz. boneless chicken
large-size mayonnaise jar lid = 3 oz. cooked hamburger
fist = 1 cup serving
I also showed that using a plate with a rim or edge decoration is wiser
and to keep the food off the rim/trim. They can control portions better
without making an announcement to those who don’t give a hoot.
It’s interesting that the highly-educated speaker had lots of annnnndss
and ummms, but Iris can appreciate the difference a Toastmasters-trained
speaker makes. Iris, did you know that some of the astronauts joined TM so
when they were interviewed they would know how to handle it? And, so do some
of the Miss America contestants.
SON IS DRIVING A CAR!! I just received an e-mail saying that he and his
9-month old Hannah are both crawling and exploring their worlds. 8^)
We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!! My neck/head is
bothering me from my fall 9/23 and slamming into my curlers on the driveway.
But It’s so minor compared to his tumble from that 2-story building
9/27!!!!! Mr. Jan’s forehead doesn’t hardly even show a scar from those
stitches he had 9/28, either! PTL!
Let’s see how Marius (I mean whassisname) can mess with all the above
tomorrow when he gets back. 8^)
Ask a simple Q - and you know what you get from me!!

Yes Jan I agree, you do have much to be thankful for. God is good. I am so
thankful that I got to see my mom again this past October. She was healthy
when I moved here but within six months she was ill. I was really worried
about that when I moved since she is going to be 75 on 12/7. I worried I
would not have the finances to travel to see her but once again God has
provided.
I am happy to her that your son and his daughter are crawling together! :~)
I knew you would give a great speech. You do have a way with words. Now let’s
see what way Marius has with your words tomorrow!!!
Hugs,
Christine

You know Jan, I do not know what you look like but I can see you smiling.
Things are getting better for you I can tell. I never heard of Toastmasters.
Sounds like a really good organization. I am so excited about your son. He
is definately a Praise the Lord. I think we all really have alot to be
thankful for. I am looking forward in going into the new millineum almost
debt free and boy is that a good feeling knowing I don’t have to work anymore
and not worry about the money. My hubby is so special and works so hard, he
is truly my hero. I am very grateful I found this list. It has helped me get
through alot, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday to come and will be
happy. Hugs Shelia :O)
