missing messages

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

To all listers,
I changed my email and in doing so lost all my morning messages, around 60,
so if anyone sent me anything privately or something you feel I should
know, would you please resend them to me. Thanks.
Feeling better today, than I have in some time, but don’t want to say it
too loud, if you know what I mean.
I know I missed all of Marius posting, but I suppose I will live through
one day (don’t tell him I said that).
Been doing some leg, back and arm exercises in bed and on the side of the
bed when I get up to help strengthen my muscles. They got so weak during my
illness. But the last week I have ached all over so bad. I don’t know if it
is the exercise or what. I am ok when I get up of the morning, but gets
worse as the days goes on, by now I can hardly get out of my chair it hurts
so bad. It wakes me up at night sometimes. I wonder if I am having some
neuropathy pop up. I haven’t mentioned it to my dr, because I know he would

Wally’s 50+ years

Sunday, January 16th, 2005

Wally,
Did you receive the 50-year bronze medal from Joslin Clinic in Boston? Also,
if you were on Lilly insulin the entire 50 years, they give recognition. I
already have the paperwork for Joslin. I’m having a *bash 11/4/00 the day
before my 50th anniversary of dx (coma). For 13 years I used Nordisk
Velosulin made in Denmark for my pump because I got too many infections at
my infusion site with Lilly. I’m now on Lilly Humalog. That disqualifies me
for their recognition. Oh, well, you can’t win ‘em all.
new to DM compared to you, Jan

sides of the planet

Sunday, January 16th, 2005

I sit here connected to this little box that is the size of 7/8″ stack of
business cards with 42″ of very thin tubing automatically infusing
instant-acting insulin (Humalog) into me allowing me to live a freer life
with more flexibility while I sit at a keyboard watching a monitor and
messages are going to South Africa and back instantaneously (sometimes

Hi all,
I have been on this list just a few days but I see I cannot keep up with it.
I am on 4 email lists for different purposes and 200 email a day is a lot!.
Thanks for your help. Maybe I will join you again later.

rain!!

Thursday, January 13th, 2005

I just went outside and it started raining, these last few days it was
so dry that the trees were running after the dogs and the
grasshoppers went down on their knees to eat!!!
Hopefully we’ll have a nice thunderstorm tonight, I want to set my
camera up for some lightning shots.
The mountains are shrouded in mist and looks lovely from here.
Wish I could send a picture!!
When we go on holiday I want to start a diary and record every day
so that I can send a detailed account of all our visits (with photo’s)
to the list. We plan to visit Gold Reef City and the Sudwala caves
before we go on to the Kruger National Park. DV.
Just received an e-mail from my sister, the sugar mill that they
work for was without power for a while, the power station had a
direct hit from a lightning bolt and they had quite some damage.
I wish you all could see the lightning!!

Marius’ business venture

Thursday, January 13th, 2005

===JAN: Marius, you are so talented that I do think it’s a waste that your
artistry is not a gainful employment. Perhaps this is your transition. Do
you have business training so you can succeed financially. My mind always
goes to cross cultures. In USA there are a lot of requirements, taxes,
licenses, taxes, etc. You said on another post that Wendy cuts them by hand.
3000!!!!!? And more coming? Wish I could send you a Trimmer. It’s a cutting
board (i.e. paper cutter) but about a foot square. No, it would be nice for
you to have two.
Maybe someone out there has connections and could get a Staples, Office
Max,
or Office Depot to do that. Your address used to be printed at the end of
each post. I LIKE your marketing ploy: make them their
own card and give them a sample.
===JAN: DOUBLE?? Keep an eye on that, E-pal.

The company that I work for, ISCOR has just donated a R30million
(US$5million) training facility towards “black empowerment”
The training facility in Newcastle was handed over at a function
attended by education and community dignitaries from Gauteng
and Kwa Zulu Natal. The FOOD alone for this function amounted to
R1million or US$ 166,667-00.
Every day thousands of children of ALL races goes hungry in our
country - MAY THESE “DIGNITARIES” CHOKE IN THE CAVIAR!!
Donations from ISCOR thus far this year amounts up to R53million
(US$9million)
Iscor CANNOT give any of their employees any bonus or increase
in salary, as they are pleading poverty but whenever it comes to
brownnosing with the government or management giving
THEMSELVES bonuses or increases, money is in abundance.
People are being retrenched daily by ISCOR, some of them even

Good Humor

Sunday, January 9th, 2005

I always thought the real stuff tasted better than the dietetic anyway. I
was told in 1950 that most of the time the dietetic stuff was a waste of
money, didn’t taste good, slow mover on shelves, and more expensive. Work
the real stuff into the diet plan if it’s necessary. I wrote the following
poem 1/97
.
GOOD HUMOR
They say, “Don’t spend a coupon
for a product you don’t use”;
but that’s the way new items
are discovered — we can choose.
I had “cents off” for popsicles,
the kind that’s sugar free;
I doubled it, a year ago,
and go them just for me.

Hey, what works for you works. Nutrition is changing so fast, what the
heck is “right” anymore. What is “right” is where you get the results
you want with a diet you can live with.
