Jan’s joke to make her laugh

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Ok Jan i found this and thought it was funny. If you don’t like it that is
ok I want look for any more jokes. lol lol lol
……………………This just seemed to fit into what has been going on
with Marius…….OK here it goes……….
A burglar was cruising through one of our posh suburbs looking for a
target of opportunity. At one house he saw a truck unloading a big screen
television, stereo, and video outfit. All the gear had to cost thousands of
dollars. He made a mental note and went on his way.
The next day he was back in the same neighborhood. When he drove past
the house with all the goodies, he saw an elderly couple loading suitcases
into the trunk of their car. He could hardly wait.
That night, without a moon in the sky and a heavy fog, he drove up to the
house. He rang the doorbell and when no one answered, broke the lock on the
kitchen door and went in.
It was pitch black inside as he made his way through the kitchen, then

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road? (Part 1)

I’m up

Friday, April 15th, 2005

Gang,
I took a nap after breakfast, and reading my e-mail. About 3 hours later I was
dreaming I was at a convention (Toastmasters?) and didn’t know a soul. I was on
several diff. floors and couldn’t remember going on steps with this cast thingy
- and no elevators (good - don’t like ‘em while I’m sleeping). I was completely
confused. I finally opened my eyes and that yellow spot I talked about was mixed
with red. I have a bag of Orange Slices (those gum drop things) and ate 4-5 and
continued to lie there. Then I thought I’d take a test: 28. So don’t know how
low it was before I ate the candy. Eight min. later I took another test: 48.
With that 28 I was almost equal to Marius’ BG yesterday (25). EXCEPT his is in
mmol and mine is mgl/dl

Diabetics’ hospitalizations

Friday, April 15th, 2005

Some diabetics experience horrors while in the hospital. Some printed material
in
this regard was distributed at a support group that I’d like to share with you:
“On occasion, the person with diabetes must be admitted to the hospital for
things unrelated to diabetes; things such as accidents, infections,
“routine” surgery (tooth extractions, tonsilectomy, hernia repair),
emergency surgery, etc.
The diabetic who is “in control” should be able to handle all these
situations without difficulty, but remember THIS IS YOUR DIABETES, and you
and your parents should know more about it than those around you. After
all, your doctor may not be there. Others are often strangers.
You and your parents should insist on working with the doctors and nurses
as PARTNERS during the hospitalization.
WORKING AS A PARTNER MEANS THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SHOULD:
1. Continue to check blood sugars yourselves and keep the records.

jokes for Jan

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

Three blond men are stranded on one side of a wide river, and
don’t
know how to get across.
The first man prays to God to make him smart
enough to figure out how to cross the river,so God turns him into a
brown-haired man and he swims across.
The second man prays to God to make him even
smarter, so God turns him into a dark-haired man and he builds a boat
and
rows across.
Then the third man prays to God to make him the smartest of
all,
so God
turns him into a woman and she walks across the bridge.

low BGs

Sunday, April 10th, 2005

I have had a BG of 20 already and fully aware, etc. No one has ever had to
call help for me. PTL. I take 4-6 BGs a day. Recently read about a pumper
who uses 300 sticks a month — that’s 10 a day!! But, yes, on insulin you
have to keep good track.

You are proving the saying….Life is what YOU make……true. Family is
wonderful and adopted or as some might say surrogate are sometimes better
because we pick them.

Faffing over Marius

Friday, April 8th, 2005

Marius, dear, Marius,
G E T T H A T B G D O W N ! ! !
Now that I have said that, let me say this: GET THAT BG DOWN!
Oh, yeah, get that bg down.
Have you read ANY of my faffing, at all, ever?? Let me reiterate:
#1 Your body is out of order (your are *disorderly*) with T-2
#2 That muddy blood is causing you to be irrational with unclear thinking.
#3 You are of a melancholic temperament. The last thing you need is to
listen to somber/depressing music in this condition. Put on some lively
Pavaroti, or something happy hopping. You’re feeding your depression.
#4 You are depressing ME!!! That ain’t NO GOOD!!
#5 You are damaging body parts with that high BG (for those unclear what it
is: 450 in USA)
#6 My foot hurts and I’m supposed to be quiet and ice it for 10 min. every
hour. ME be silent — don’t think so. (need I remind you). And here I sit
