Veggie Carbs

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

Found this old post:
Christine,
I guess what confused me on your diet was your lack of carbs. But now that
you say you eat veggies and don’t overload on protein, I wonder if you
realize veggies ARE mostly carbs. One half cup of veggies on the ADA list is
5g carb and 2g protein. You may be injesting a lot more carbs than you
realize. Since food is made up of carbohydrate, protein, and fat that means
if there is no carb nor protein, it is fat. The only fat in the veggie list
would be what is added (butter, sauce, etc.)
I think you mean *lots of veggies for the carbs* — not *in place of.*

The sun is shining

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

Haven’t seen the sunshine in several days — and it’s out today! 8^)
Mr. Jan is eating breakfast to see how he feels. He may go get a load this
aft. I’m still blah-y but think I’ll survive. I have to get the Toastmasters
Club schedule set so the members know what they’re doing next week. 8^(
Gail, did you see your 20-yr long dr.? I’m glad he put you directly into a
room without exposure to the others. That shows consideration for your
situation.
Everyone, else — stay and/or Get Well!!! This ain’t no way to start a new
year!!
Shouldn’t we have heard something from Marius by now? He said he’d send a
message to someone and I think he’ll be back Monday sometime. Hope he’s having a
restful, relaxing vacation and will get back to a whole house, etc.

Laura,
Remember when you were ROFL-ing at my post mentioning burning your own body fat
in DKA? Well, here’s a recent clip from another site from someone else who is
saying it better than I could. I don’t think it’s a laughing matter. DKA is
serious.
Happy New Year,
Jan

Jan’s still sick

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

Christine,
I’m still sick. It usually takes me longer to recover from something. I
thought when I got sick 2 weeks ago today that I was doing well by that
weekend. Then when my baby granddaughter was here for awhile on Monday,
again on Tuesday and overnite and she was pretty sick with fever and
whimpering (she’s 10.5 mos) I got it again. Mr. Jan stayed home today too -
he’s getting it.

A Little Bit of Faith - Happy New Year!

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

“We take a little bit of faith,
And we mold it with a lot of care,
We use the cement of love,
And plaster it with generous affection,
We build tall towers of commitment,
And connect them with hands of trust,
We drop down some wires of peace,
And put in arches of dreams,
Together we build this beautiful structure of
Strength and endurance,
And, We call it the bridge of friendship.”
