If this question seem sarcastic in any way, please believe me, that is not the
intention. I have often wondered what would happen to me if I can eat anything
like a non-diabetic person and adjust my insulin accordingly.
    That’s what pumpers do.

As long as the BG is maintained at a proper level, the insulin handles the
carbs. There is a major teaching book called Pumping Insulin by ?? Walsh.
Fat, carbs, and protein are worked out and Humalog (sometimes mixed with
Regular or Velosulin) are adjusted accordingly.
It’s a whole different way of life. Freedom with flexibility I call it.

Hey everyone, John is taking me out to celebrate our two-year anniversary.
(That is if we can ever decide on a restaurant). I’m taking my Novolin
pens with me in case I get a bit toooooo tempted by the dessert menu :) I was hoping we could go dancing but I am just not up to that right now,
    much too much pain.
    Talk to you later

Two years…Congratulations! Hope you had a super time.

i like chineese food, especially the all you can eat banquet buffet,
where you have a variety of choices to choose from. But how do I count
my carbs at one of these resturants, when most of the foods are mixed
carbs & proteins. And does MSG raise the BG level? Or do I need to find
an MSG free chineese resturant? Thanks,

Beth, I too love Chinese food and I am careful when I eat there. I do
not eat the rice or lo mein. I eat the veg. dishes, some soup, and try
not to eat that much of the breaded stuff. If I eat just the one meal I
do better than with the buffet. I like to eat MooGoo GaiPan or Egg Foo
Yong. I do eat at a couple of Thai places that I have had very little
problem with. I do eat a little more protein at these places. I will
take a little more of my insulin if I know that I will over eat when I go
out but not at a reg. practice. Rice sets me off so I avoid a lot of it.
Just a taste which kills me because I could have eatten 2 cups before.
Try a few different meals and see how your sugars react. I have not seen
a difference when I eat msg or not. That is just my body. Becki

well yesterday i went out to eat i actualy did good i had one eggroll
15gs cashew chicken which never raises my bg 4dumplings 15gs ,two pieces
of general taos chicken,1/3 c fried rice 15gs so i was with in my carbo
intake for lunch, i went to my nutritional class today and i thought i
binged out on carbs at the chinese resturant, but my teacher and me
figured out the above listed carbs i had and i was actually within my
carbo limit. She was so proud of me watching my carb intake that she’s
advancing me directly to taking my pump classes. Hopefully, i’ll start
those pump classes next week, depending on the weather here in Western
New York state, and will be able t be on the pump full tim before the
end of Febuary. I’ve been waiting over a year now to get on the pump,
And finally to feel normal and not always on a roller coaster ride of
high and low bg’s. So wish me luck, I’ll always be needing some.
    Beth
