support groups
Becki
Our local support group (defunct now) was all information. We were not
allowed to talk about feelings, depression (advisor didn’t think that was
wise), complications, etc. When I was president I wanted it changed to St.
Joe Co. Diabetes Education and Support Group. Noooooo. The attendance
tripled after I became pres. and I was hollered at for my methods.
I like the e-mail group(s) too.
Becki, You were busy over the holidays and I think you missed it, but we
have some new ones and they wanted you to introduce yourself. They don’t
know much about you yet.
Bethany, I went to you Kitty website (cute). TWO Q’s: Do you belong to
CatDiary? And, where’s YOUR pic?? Marius, Christine, Iris, Scott Simkover,
and I have all put our pics on this list so we can see to whom we’re
talking. Want to send one?

As I was sitting in the waiting room for my van to get checked out, I read
my latest issue of Diabetes Self Management. It occurred to me what is so
special about this list. For years I have said they have local support
groups for Type 2’s. They have support groups for young people or the
parents of Type 1’s. BUT, there are no support groups for little kids with
Type 1 who grew up. We have several stages on this list, but I no longer
feel alone because there are several kids who grew up who are on this list.
One of Many,
Jan
