[diabetics] treated like kidsFrom: “Babs” <babette@…
You know just a thought here….
But why not start an Online Diabetics Accountability Community ..
or something like that… unless the real point of going to these meetings
is to see real people…
but you could sign up for a free chat channel and have regular weekly
meetings online…

I’ve been on 3 Chats since starting on the ‘net. One from a list of 2000
members — extremely boring. About 6 were on and didn’t respond; just sat
there waiting. Another was fun, but went defunct a few months ago because of
not much interest. The best one is for a kidney/pancreas tx group. They meet
at a reg. time and day. Usually 4-8 at a time with possibly a total of 20 by
the end; it lasts for hours, people dropping in and out until the last ones
say goodnight. I think it would be nice for this group, however, I know
Marius could not participate and most of us wouldn’t stand for that. We had
some pretty good fast-flying stuff going on there for awhile, but when he’s
away from the ‘puter, this list is rather quiet. I think most look for his
name on the From: and if it’s his, they’re on!!
Babs, do you want to try it, like get it set up and see what happens?

Marius, I do not know what time you came on and by now you probably are
home but i thought that I would just say hi. I could not sleep with all
the things going on in my life. I did not keep my husband awake so here
I am in front of the screen. I should be doing my reports for work but
that does not sound like fun at 4 EST in the morning. I was happy to
hear that malaria was not in the cards for your daughter. Not that the
flu is good. It has put a lot of people in the hospital over here. My
doctor said that it was good that I came in or I would have been one of
them. I have a very good friend who got the flu and ended up in ICU for
a couple of weeks and finally is in a reg. room. They still are
restricting visitation so I have not seen her yet.
Work is being very stressful and I really need a break. We have our
state fair in about 2 weeks and I think I will take a day off. I also am
taking time off the end of next month to go to Arizona…couldn’t get a
cheap flight to Newcastle. Southwest airlines do not fly that far SOUTH.
Well, I guess I will read the rest of the emails and do my work. Hope
you are there,,,Becki

Okay ! I’m reworking it, cuz, it’s pretty ugly, and had to change the
name…
Uhm, anyone have a color preference? Iris? Jan?
November 5th, 2005 at 5:35 am
The chat room!!!
As moderator, I can pick colors/ textured colors for: the chat area (where
your text shows up) the background (page title area) and the listing of
people in attendance…
So I was thinking, hard wood floor maybe? Its fun, kinda like designing a
room for your house! I just want folks to feel comfy when they come in : )

Bobbit,
you know very well that I have no idea what a chat room looks like
as I have only e-mail…lokks like you’re REALLY ganging up
against me…..’scuse me, wanna go eat worms…

Babs,
Can you make it high contrast for the low vision? I am legally blind and
cannot see with alot of busy work on the screen?
Just wondering, that is why I cannot go to alot of chats cannot see the
conversation.

Babs,
Please don’t make the furniture too soft and comfy or I can’t sit in it.
I’ll have to use that padded card-table chair I keep in the car if you do.

Babs I do not know if I can figure out how to get to the chat room but it
sound interesting. By background color are you talking about what the
background to the text will come in. Please consider us with visual
impairments if we come in to chat. We have different needs beside
comfort. I see with better contrast like my background on my email is
black with white letters. It is easier for me to see then when yours and
Jan’s messages sometimes come in white with black letters in small print.
But like I said I am not the best on the computer so I do not know if I
could make it into the chat room or not. My 15 year old daughter can
probably get me there but she is no teacher to help me learn how to do it
myself. Just an idea…Becki

And what’s up with calling me “Babe” ? how uncharacteristically nice of you.
LOL
November 16th, 2005 at 6:15 pm
Well, if I can call Gail “Darling” then I can call you Babe.
I’ll have to do something about Connie though, can’t call her “Con”
