Under format.. I can uncheck Rich Text...
Have you checked your preferences? Mine are set to check spelling
automatically before it sends each mail.

[diabetics] Babs, get me smart-erBabs,
Nope, highlighting ALL of it does nothing. My toolbar on this post (New
Mail) goes (2nd line) Send,Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo, Check (names), ABC
Spelling, Attach, Priority, Sign, Encrypt, Offline. I cannot get the ABC
Spelling highlighted to activate. Maybe a lurker is dying to tell us.
I changed your (this one) post, BTW, to Plain Text. Can you tell me how to
change my automatic Format setting to Plain Text from Rich Text (HTML). If
you can tell me that, perhaps you can change yours to Plain Text too. Then
we would still have the option of HTML when we wanted it. 8^)

From: "Babs" <babette@...
Hmmm. ya know I've been following this.. I use OE too...
My thing is.. I don't have a spell check button ON my toolbar. When I want
to spell check I use the menu choices listed across the top of my Mac.
File - Edit - View - Message - Format - Tools
<!--more-->
Do you have menu choices or just the buttons?
Have you tried highlighting all the text first?
Unless I can simulate your problem, I'll have a hard time figuring out
what's wrong...
