dr’s comment
Christine,
I really have never blamed HIM (now, my Mom’s a diff. story - not taking me
to dr. for 8 yrs until 6 days before the coma, etc.) for that comment. For
years prior to that drs. used to taste a patient’s urine to see if it was
sweet to make a dx. Insulin was discovered in 1921 which was a MAJOR
breakthrough for children with diabetes; it meant LIFE. That was probably
the extent of hope. I remember Mom asking if she could give me her pancreas
(she thought it was thumb-size but it’s larger than the stomach). That dr.
said, “We don’t do anything like that.” We’re talking *olden days* but we
didn’t know it was the *olden days.* Many, many, many pancreatic tx’s are
being done now. I’ll be talking to neph about a kptx Monday.
