1. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling
reason why we observe daylight-savings time.
2. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests you
think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at
that moment.
3. The most powerful force in the universe is gossip.
4. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender,

we ALL believe that we are above-average drivers.

A Sunday School teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her
five and six-year olds. After explaining the commandment to “honor
thy father and they mother,” she asked, “Is there a commandment that
teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?”
Without missing a beat, one boy (the oldest of a family of seven)
answered, “Thou shalt not kill.”

At the day-care center where I work, some of the children were
telling me about their siblings. “My brother takes horseback-riding
lessons,” bragged one. “My sister takes gymnastics,” said another.
Not to be outdone, the youngest piped up, “My sister takes
antibiotics!”

Thyroid and DM

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Denise,
No one in my family has thyroid problems other than I, also. I think that
backs up even more the theory that my DM was caused by 8 years of the poison
from the boils, sties, and carbuncles destroying my pancreas by the time I
was 11.5. Others (including my hugsband) had boils, etc. and did not get DM.
Any other T-1’s here who have thyroid problems or family members? I know
thyroid dysfunction is common for DMers.

Doctor Jan here:
Marius, your bod works differently with a Type 2 than a Type 1. T-1’s have
NO insulin production. If you had none, then you would be T-1. On a
non-diabetic (I almost said *normal* person but refuse to because sometimes
I think I’m more normal than they are), if they *cheat* (actually it should
be *take liberties* their pancreas will produce more insulin to take care of
it. That is what a T-1 does. Take insulin to cover what is eaten.
YOU, my Dear, should follow your quack’s orders - which, as of yet,
doesn’t sound like you like to comply.
ALL my love,

Jan,
I am sorry that you feel Diabetes has robbed you of you life. I wonder what
the Doctors would say about that…you are still breathing, aren’t you?
When I say I feel Blessed with diabetes I mean, as I stated many times, That
God has given me another chance to take better care of my health, Without
this diagnosis I would not have been so frightened. I would not have read
anything I could about diabetes and I would not have taken care of my health.
I would still be riding an electric mobility cart instead of being able to
walk!
I wanted to share this post because we all have days when we wish we didn’t
have to deal with the continuous management of diabetes. I think anyone with
any kind of chronic illness feels this way at times. I also think they are
intitled to it.
Being Type I or Type II doesn’t change the fact that we all must be diligent
in managing our chronic illness. Becki is Type II and has been diagnosed only
