<description>I *was* hyperthyroid a few years ago. If I have the terms right, mine was
Hashimotos rather than Graves. The weird thing is that my thyroid went back to
normal during my pregnancy. It is still normal (as of 2 years ago) but now I
have the DM. My dad was dx'd with hyperthyroid a year or two before me. His
was actually Plumbers Disease (kinda rare), which is a tumor on the thyroid.
They gave him the radioactive liquid(?) that was supposed to kill the whole
thyroid. The doctor kept checking him but it never killed the thyroid, just the
tumor. Just before Christmas my mom had a physical and the doctor discovered
that she is hypothyroid. She will probably end up on synthroid once they finish
with the testing.

		<description>Hi all!
My dau Ali (T1, now 4) was tested for thyroid antibodies at the time of her
dx and they found she did have some ... something to watch and worry about
in the future. I currently have no signs of diabetes, however I had a bout
with hyper-thyroid ("Graves Disease" - like former first lady Barbara Bush)
as well as gestational diabetes during 2 pregnancies. And then my mother
must have had some thyroid problem as well, but I'm not sure exactly
what. She passed away due to cancer when I was 9, but I remember talk
about thyroid coming up. And now with my RA, I can only figure my family
 has really crummy immune/endocrine systems!
Enough doom and gloom ... we're getting a bunch of rain here in Southern
California, and our garden is loving it. We're growing some broccoli,
spinach, onions, and various flowers. I also have an herb garden that I
cut back pretty harshly a few months ago ... it should come back all the
better though after this rain. I found a long neglected tin of seeds in my
 &lt;!--more--&gt;
garage ... dating prior to '92 (that is to say, before I had kids) ...
veggies, flowers, everything. Think they'll grow? I'm gonna give 'em a
 try anyhow.
Hey Iris - I really liked your "strength" post ... it was right on point.
Have a good one everyone out there.
