Becki’s trip
Gail….It is good to be back…I had a good trip. It was so cold but it
was fun to be with my oldest daughter and the family. My daughter had
not seen her relatives in years and it was good for them to see her as
an adult. She had such a good time with them. We really had fun in
Phoenix. We really were in Mesa but it is close to a lot of good things.
We ate at some really neat places…Mining Camp is a neat place with
woooden benches, picnic tables, metal dishes, mining decor, in front of
Superstition Mountain. The food was served family style until you
burst…prime rib, chicken, bbq pork ribs, baked beans, potatoes,
dressing, green beans, 2 kinds of bread, cole slaw, cookies, coffee and
tea. It was fantastic and a guy sang songs while we ate. We had to be
rolled out of the resturant. During the day we went to the mining camp
which was set up the way it was in the early 1900’s. My husband and
daughter went down in the mine and then came up and panned for gold and
garnets. It was great fun. They had lots of skits going on playing with
the people there. We had a drink there that was delicious. It was
lemonade with watermelon flavoring in it. Wow Good.
It was out in the desert under the mountains with lots of cacti. It was
lots of fun. This was just the beginning of our trip. We went to art
festivals, Renaissance festivals, and other great eating resturants. We
also split up and my daughter and husband went out in the desert while my
sister and I attacted the malls. I had a ball shopping…the outlets
were great. I really enjoyed the swap meets. It was so relaxing and
restful. At night we played sequense, Swedish poker, and Horse. It was
so much fun to just sit and laugh. I needed that. I had a hard time
with all the brown. Little green foliage…so it was hard for me to see
things. The contrast is important to me. I also thought that it was
going to be warmer being in the desert but surprise I was out buying
sweatshirts and pants to keep warm. The shorts and bathing suit never
left the suitcase. I took an empty suitcase and filled it when we came
home. Well, Gail you asked for it and I wrote. I hope that I have not
hurt your eye. You might have to take a break and have a cup of coffee
to finish reading this mess. I feel good to be home and work is strange
but I can handle it. I hope that I was missed and everyone will write.
It is fun to see that everyone is back except I have missed a note from
Marius. Has he taken his leave for the surgery? Write soon…I missed
you all…Sheila did you see me fly over…tee hee….hugs Becki

Sounds like you had a great time Becki. Just what you needed laughter and
relaxation. Too bad about the cold, but then you are where it is warmer
anywhere, so this made a difference.
The mining camp sounded great. I may be going th first week of May to see
my brother in Nevada. He works in a gold mine or anyway for the company. He
is a geologist and has been all over the world. He is in Nevada now. Maybe
they will have a mining resturant there (I hope), it made me hungry just
reading the menu.
Gotta go, cleaning lady comes today, so I clear out of her way.

Babs, Yes we had a great time. I needed to come home and rest from my
vacation. Today at work I will be cooking with the 5 to 8 year
olds…keep me inyour thoughts today. I might need it. The kids here
have a half day so will have time to play with them a while. How is your
beading coming along. I wish that you were closer…I would have youcome
and give the kids a demonstration on making different things. maybe
something easy for their mom’s for mother’s day. Oh, well, that is life.
I was wondering how you are feeling now after the accident? Did Chad
get the estimate on the car…that is such a hassle. I remember you
talked about a migraine after you got hit….any more of them. Well, I
just wanted to say hi…Becki

Becki
You looking for something easy for mom day??
A few things came to mind….
~ beaded votives ~ (I can make kits)
buy cheap clear glass votive cups,
the kids can then either glue beads on where they want OR
use beads to thread a string long enough to wrap all the way up the glue
covered votive.
you can also use a thin gauge wire for this and no glue.
~ beaded pony wraps~ (I have kits)
using a thin elastic thread and a few beads
you can make a very attractive ponytail wrap.
~ beaded napkin rings ~ (I can make kits)
use a thin gauge wire, and a empty towel tube for shaping.
wrap a few times (like 3 or 4) around the tube. then depending on age level
you can either leave it on the tube (for something bigger to hold) or you
can take it off… either way, its finished off the same, add a bead or two
and wrap add a bead or two and wrap. continue until you have a good size for
a napkin ring. finish by wrapping the end through the center on one side a
few times.
That’s all I can think of right now. I offered to make kits because some
states don’t have bead stores!!! Can you believe that??
So there is an offer for kits if you want it. : )
I have an awful headache today, too much yelling at my own kids maybe.
I have taken 4 Advil, not much effect. I started getting them before the
accident. Interestingly enough, they started about the time I was having the
crisis w. Es’ school.
Chad did get an estimate, but I don’t think he ever told me what it was.
That’s about it… Let me know if those ideas would work or if you’d like a
few more. : )
