Glory and me
A friend came by this evening and showed me how to scan and send our pic. I
hope it goes through. This was taken the day Glory and I were certified.

Gail,
It came through just fine. How nice to put a face to the name and kind posts.
Glory is a beautiful dog….almost as beautiful as her master!

Gail, It was good to get your picture. I have not figured that out yet.
I am hoping that went I get some of these new pictures done someone will
help to get them out on the cyper space. I have enjoyed seeing everyones
pictures. Maybe when Connie comes she will take a picture and she can
send them out to you all. I have tried but it just does not seem to want
to happen. I have been told I need different software. I just do not
know. Glory is a hearing dog right. Do they train them for both hearing
and sight in the same dog? That would really be great if they could.
Thanks for sharing…Becki

Gail, You had to pay to get Glory???I think the guide dogs are free. I
know quite a few people here so have dogs and they have never mentioned
any expenses in getting their dogs. They have to go to school for 1
month to know how to train their dogs and know that they are compatible.
I know that you walk a lot with a guide dog and they want you to work
them daily. I right now do not feel that I need one and would second
guess it. I use sighted guide alot especially at night. Also I do not
have to walk to work so again I feel like I can handle things without a
dog. It is a lot of work to keep a dog up and I am not ready for that
it. If It would get worse I would consider it. It is great the Glory
has picked up some of the instincts to help you when you need her. She
seems like she as bonded with you very well. How is she with the rest of
the family. I know some people say with guide dogs they will not even go
outside to do their thing if the master does not let them out. They will
not leave their side. It really is a blessing that we have this extra
help available to us. Thanks for sharing. Becki

Gail,
It is so much fun learning about how the dogs work. I have enjoyed
your posts. Glory is your first…how many years do they work? I think
I have heard that 7 years in the average for a guide dog. Just
wondering.
I was wondering if you knew if Marius was on leave? He had said that he
needed surgery on his nose and was wondering if you knew if he was on R &
R dealing with his recovery. I have not seen any posts for a while from
him. Also it has been quiet on the list. Where is Babette, jan, Guy,
Sarah, Courtney, and the rest of the group. I am anxious to have the end
of the month come when Connie will be flying into Tampa. We will have a
good time. Also I heard that Christine was going AGAIN to NY. I wonder
if she is taking advantage of the new airline out of Ft. Lauderdale… $
49 one way to NY. Cheap!!!!!!Wish I knew someone in NY so I could go to.
Iris are you feeling any better? We are all concerned about you. Well,
I just wanted to say hi. My family is exhausted and sleeping in from our
vacation. Need to get back into the groove. Jet lag can really take it
out of you. Keep in touch. Becki
