pen

Sarah, I love my pen. I started with the syringes but having a vision
problem I was given the pen. I am on 70/30 which allows me to only give
one shot morning and night. I do not use anything else. Now some of my
friends us that insulin and then boost it with another type when they are
high. The pen is convenient and very private. I have given my shot all
over the place. It is quick and I do not have to worry about air pockets
once it is set. Some insulin that youdo not use a lot of would not be
good in the pen. It would have to be refigerated but I use mine up well
within the alotted time. When you have to take 2 kinds that means two
shots which is why a couple of my friends gave it up and went back to
mixing their coctails in the syringes. I do not know if it is better
than the old method but it is more convenient, easier to take with you,
less combersome, and for me so much easier to be independent. I think
from what I have heard and read the pump is really more accurate and
keeps sugars in constant monitoring but it is expensive and not all of us

qualify for it. I would not give up my pen unless something similar came
out that has bigger numbers or could mix two types of insulin. Also
there is a very fine needle that goes withthe novalin pen. It really is
small but does the job. I guess the cost of the insulin is more because
it is in a cartridge but for me I love it. (IF you can love giving a
shot). I am sorry to hear that your sugars were high but that can not be
helped now. You can not look backwards but try to do better then next 3
months. I know that minehas been goofing up so I expect to be high but I
will just try harder. I do get down when my sugars go yoyoing and I have
not done anything different except feeling stressed out. I know no
excuses but I am human and must live in the “normal” world. If you want
to ask more questions I will try hard to answer them for you. Keep the
chin up. Becki
