Well…..not quite. I researched and bought all the pieces. My cousin, a
real computer geek for Wang, put it together for me. I guess I could have
put it together myself with the right resources and some coaching. I did
all the reloading of software and setting up though. I do install my own
hardware upgrades (modem, memory, CD-ROM, etc.) too.
When I worked in a regional word processing center in North Carolina,
co-workers (supervisor too) would come to me with all their technical
questions and problems. If I didn’t know the answer right away, I enjoyed
(really, I enjoyed it!) researching the manuals to find the solution. I
wrote batch files (for DOS) and macros to automate functions for the other
typists. I really miss DOS! I’m still lost and feel like a newbie with
most of the intermediate/advanced Windows stuff.

Sure! What’s not to like. It’s simple and straight forward, not sneaky and
back stabbing like Windows. On my first PC, I made my own DOS menu with
ASCII boxes and colors. Wrote a ton of little batch files. I used to
regularly mess with my autoexec.bat and config.sys. Don’t dare do that now,
Windows is far tooooo temperamental!
