orange OR chips for lunch

A few years ago a *friend* in our local diabetes support group wanted to
give up shots. She felt if she lost weight she would no longer need the
them; she put herself on a 500-calorie a day diet. One day they found her
with her filled syringe that she just could not take — and she was swinging
from a rope in her basement. When I saw my endo I asked him if he
knew/approved Norma being on that diet. He was shocked and said you cannot
function on that low amount. The hypothalamus will not function correctly
and confuses the brain - and causes depression.
IRIS (I want your attention that’s why I screamed) — YOU CANNOT EXIST ON
*AN* ORANGE *OR* A HANDFUL OF POTATO CHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sitting here hundreds of miles away and can do *nothing.* OH, YES I
CAN!! I’M GOING TO CONTACT MIA AND LET HER KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON. You are
self treating and not eating. You are not going to last and that is foolish.
Your mind needs to get a hold of yourself and see life differently. Death is
permanent. No going back and changing anything. No future. No rainbows. No

sunrises. No sunsets. Only eternity.
Amen,
rev./dr. Jan

You know Iris.. I don’t usually say too much here… I guess because I’m so new and so quiet, I don’t have much right to get into any bodies business…so, I’m just gonna say Jan started it. ya, that works.
But I just wanted to say something here that might put a little different perspective on it…
It sounds to me like you have been adjusting your food to fit your insulin (to fit your numbers).
And I tend to do this sometimes with Es, for some stupid reason it makes sense. But with out food, you have no energy and therefore can’t grow or function.
Our doctor says for Es to grow, to let her eat as much as she wants and adjust her insulin to match.
Which is why I’m juggling her shots all the time.
Try planning a *meal* using the amounts you are on now. If you are high after, adjust for more insulin. Eat the same amount later… If you aren’t as hungry drink just a small amount of juice or something so you still get the carbs and aren’t skimping the meal…
I feel out of place telling you how to manage your diabetes, you’ve had this much longer than we, but, you can’t live on such small amounts of food.
    HUGS - Babs : )
