Jan’s back

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Got in to see endo. Had to stand for about 1/2 hr. to wait in room ’cause
too tough to sit. Then decided to take the pillow off the *table* and use
the 2 back pillows I took in with me and made a slightly higher seat with a
*comfy* back. Sat like that for about 10 min. waiting. He ordered a bone
scan for Thursday and Rx’d Skelaxin and Viodox. The V has to be pre-approved
by ins. co. If not, he’ll change it to Celebrex. I should be knocked out
for awhile.
(had to pause for 4 dr. phone-call returns.) Not knocked out yet but neph
says I can’t use Viodox - They’ll have something else for me if I need it in
the a.m.

diabetic friendly cookies??

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Jenny,
When I convert dessert recipes, I substitute Splenda for the sugar.
Unfortunately it’s not available in stores in the US yet. I ordered mine off
the internet (www.splenda.com). It measures like sugar and is heat stable.
Equal and Sweet N Low are not heat stable so aren’t really recommended for
baking.
Substituting the sugar in desserts doesn’t necessarily make it diabetic
friendly. Most of us watch carbs to some extent and flour, a major ingredient
in most recipes, is still a carb. I wish there was a low carb flour
substitute! That would make life much easier!

Guess What?

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

I called my endo and the *gal* said my Xrays showed NO PROBLEM!! I mean, she
said they were normal. But, that’s a setting on a dryer!!! (ala Erma).
I said, “There’s something wrong.” She said, “But they gave you pain pills.”
I said, “There is something wrong.” She said, “Are you taking the pills?”
I said, “And when they’re gone, then what?” So, I’m going in at 1:45.
Called neph’s office and she said I can take the pills. BUT I can’t drive
within 6 hours. So I can’t take any more until I’m home. I’ll probably end
up seeing the backologist again.
I’m beginning to hurt just from being bent in the same position. It hurts
to hurt. ;) MY BABY IS 38 TODAY!! (My oldest one is 38 also - you know, 7 weeks they’re
the same age.)

up - going down

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

I got up because *john* called — managed to get in there. HAD to check the
mail. I took another *forbidden?* pain pill. My BGs yesterday were in the
300s until I increased my basal by 55%. Right now I’m 202. I’m going to try
to get some more sleep. I’ll turn the phone on in the bedroom so I don’t
miss a call. Sure can’t jump up to answer it in the other room!
I’m going to postpone tomorrow’s KPTX info session in Chicago. Won’t be able
to make it - can’t walk those long halls at Northwestern Univ.
