phone

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

I’m expecting a phone call and should get off of here. It’s important. Got
one on my ICM but they wouldn’t leave a message and I didn’t know who it
was. Sometimes they call from someone else’s phone. Why can’t people leave
messages. It’s the 00’s - don’t they know how to use mechanical stuff?
Got one the other day and I clicked *please call me back shortly.* I waited
a half hour. None so got back on the net. Then 4 hours after the first one I
got the call back. Do they REALLY think I’m going to stay off 4 hours
waiting on a call back? Won’t happen.

birthdays

Monday, March 19th, 2007

I wish to express my best wishes to all those who are celebrating this
great month with me. I think birthdays can be taken many different ways.
I think the list sees them as an other huttle that we have jumped and
survived. Every year that we can celebrate life and being free from some
symptoms we have great reason to celebrate. I went to the dr. yesterday
and my eye doc. and he informed me that I do not have to come back for 6
months. He said that after looking to the back of my eye and taking
pictures of it he feel that I will not loose anymore sight. That my
retinopathy is gone. There is no veins growing, my macular is healthy,
my retina looks great and my optic nerve is very healthy. There is not
signs of the disease. Yes, I am celebrating and it is the best birthday
gift that anyone could have given me. Sight is a gift that I do not take
for granted. I want everyone to celebrate with me. Pop those ballopns
and eat that small piece of cake with me. I will be celelebrating next
Sunday. For those lurkers….celebrate with me. Life is great!!!!!

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the list. I wonder at times
if you really realize that this is life. We live everyday with the
disease and to do it we find it important to share what is going on in
our lives. If you want to unsubsribe Iris has given you a way out. I
wish that you would though reconsider. Just delete what you do not want
to read. Respond to the things you feel are important to you. I went to
another local support group last night and we actually got to talk about
us and not products. There should be more of this. No one else really
know what our lives are like. I am tired of food police or doctors who
are not diabetic demand so much from us. I need this list to laugh and
realize that life goes on. If this is not important to you than this
list is not for you and please feel free to leave us. We are a cyper
family and it is a place for us to vent, learn, cry, hug, and care for
each other. Either join us, lurk or leave that is your option.
Hugs..Becki

I was wrong

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

I had BIG Aprils a couple of years in a row and just saw that I calculated
incorrectly on the vitrectomy. I decorated and made a booklet for some
friends 3 years ago while legally blind (20/400 vision). Had the vit. a
couple weeks later. Two years ago co-chaired the District Conference in
April.
Please forgive my calculation.

From Dr. Joe the Diabetes doctor 4/12/00

And now for controversies on control for children.
The question: Is strict control of diabetes necessary
and feasible?
First remember that Robert Tattersall said years ago that
insulin is given incorrectly because……..
· it is given in the wrong place - under the skin, not liver
· wrong time - after glucose is up
· wrong amounts - sparse for meals and excessive for fasting
and of course, is the risk of Hypoglycemia worth it?
Poor control in the children gives different types of complications early.
· limited joint mobility
· growth failure
· delayed sexual maturation
so that this is added onto the additional risk of poor care.
So how to get around this?
