vitrectomy

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

Jan,
Breathing just so so, time of shortness of breath.
I know a vitrectomy is major surgery.
You know something similar happened to me. I had an IV once in the E.R.
and was admitted to the hospital. The next day where the first IV had been
became like yours, very swollen red with a streak up my arm. I remember
now, they gave me inj. in my abdomen for blood clots. Never really know
what happened. Sort of out of it at the time. Just know later for a long
time I had an awful sore arm.

Doctor visit

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Iris,
You didn’t mention how the visit with your parents went, or their purpose.
Didn’t they call to let you know they’d be there? Glad some adjustments were
made in your control. Did she give you strips?

today

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Gang,
I’m home now. Went to do my “zipper” routine (you know, all the little cogs
fitting in one row). Got my EPO shot but didn’t want “Miss know How To Do
This To YOU” to draw my blood today because lots needed to be taken
(quarterly draw, plus lead test). So, went to another lab for that. Then
asked for them to test the ceramic mug. No can do - they only do blood.
Someone said perhaps it was mercury in it. Then had to go to Meijer to get
the lead testing kit and will do the instructions myself - including sending
it away w/$10 and waiting for the results in 3-4 weeks. Had to get
old-people discount groceries at Kroger, then to a Feed store to get stuff
to feed our lawn grubs. Boy! Will THEY be surprised!! And the moles should
be disappointed in their feast deprivation. ;) I’m tired. I’m hungry.

high BGs + excercise

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Okay.. could someone please explain to me why it is bad to exercise with
high BG?
I was told the exact opposite from our doctor… “if she’s high give her
lots of water and let her run around”
So its bad to exercise with high bgs?
should I be making Es skip phy ed or recess if her BG is high??

The best laid plans….

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

The best laid plans often go awry. Yep, I have a flat tire. It was low
Friday and Mr. Jan pumped it up Sat. even took the pump with us to Muncie on
that 300+ mile trip. I go out to go for my shot, etc. and it’s flat - but
only on the bottom. Fortunately, he called and is on his way home until
after dinner tonight. He’ll put the spare on, then take it to get repaired.

School BS

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

I heard back from the RN Laura Benson on Friday, and what she had to tell me
absolutely infuriated me.
Now at the lst meeting I was told that her supervisor was having a meeting
with the DA for policy information regarding the glucagon.
Friday she tells me that this gal came back with a survey (they are hanging
their case on a survey!!) which says 26 out of 27 area schools do not
instruct unlicensed staff for these types of involved procedures.
What a load of crap! what does a survey have to do with my child?? and do
any of these schools even have a diabetic as part of their student body? if
they didn’t, there’d be no reason to instruct staff for this anyway!
And then she told me that since we were at the end of the year now anyway,
there would be no point in adding a licensed nurse now. (a board of {don’t
remember who?} decided that she said)
So, now I am a victim of a carefully plotted bullst*t and stall play. Nice.
What do I do now?

I’ll be gone

Saturday, March 10th, 2007

I have to go get shot - and labs today (me AND my anthropomorphized mug).
Have to get lawn stuff to kill a large section of grubs!!!!! Back later,
Jan

Wendy had to rush Merredy to the doctor last night, the neighbor
took them as I had the car.
She has been diagnosed with severe asthma. Praise the Lord for
neighbors such as Tony and Angela.
Praise the Lord for a nebulizer just in time…
