doing the best

You may have to check in the middle of the night more often than just a
little while. Growth spurts upset the apple cart often. Also, monthly
hormone dumps will possibly make basal tweaks necessary. On another list,
they often talk about the mom’s periods affect somehow the girl’s BGs. Not
moods, etc., but it is tracked as a fact just like some have said that in
college dorms by the end of the year all 4-5 roommates have periods the same
week. One young lady just used the CGMS (Continuous Glucose Monitoring
System) for a weekend and they learned all her basals were set incorrectly.
They thought they had it down but that 5-min. (or 12?) automatic testing
proved otherwise. You are getting fresh, up-to-date pumping info that has
come along since I started and it was assumed that the *one* basal rate (my
MiniMed allows 48 possible settings plus temporary basal) was set for
*life.* I have been having to adjust mine lately - again. My endo doesn’t
know I do this but my last A1c was 6.1!

I’m cleaning out stuff and saw this was intended for the diabetics@egroups
list but it went to dianaxxxxx. When I hit the dia on the addy it got her
posted instead. So, I’m trying again and hope I didn’t actually send it here
too.

These comments come from test papers and essays submitted to science and
health teachers by elementary, junior high, high school, and college
students and compiled at the NEA Life Sciences Symposium, Kansas City,
Kansas. As the originator noted, “It is truly astonishing what weird
science our young scholars can create under the pressures of time and
grades.” Please note that the original spelling has been left intact.
1.”The body consists of three parts - the branium, the borax,
and the abominable cavity. The branium contains the brain, the borax
contains the heart and lungs, and the abominable cavity contains the bowels,
of which there are five - a, e, i, o, and u.”

As soon as I get away from this addicting keyboard, I should get up and go
do some exercise. ;) Jan

Activity may keep diabetics alive
WASHINGTON (AP) - Staying active increases the chances that a person with
diabetes will stay alive, a study finds. This is the first study to find a
lower risk of death from any cause among those who report being physically
active, researchers say. Previous research has found that exercisers have a
lower risk of developing diabetes. And, among people who have diabetes,
exercise controls conditions from weight gain to cardiovascular disease that
are common outgrowths of the disease. “The bottom line is, you survive
longer,” said Dr. Ming Wei of the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research in
Dallas, lead author of the paper in Annals of Internal Medicine. See full

Lorett
Hi Loretta,
I think you may be the first person that we have from the state of WA. I am
origionally from Long Island, NY. It is where I was born and lived the first
44 1/2 years of my life. I moved to Melbourne, Central FL in July of ‘97. I
love it here. The weather is beautiful for 10 months of the years. (I would
love to skip Jul/Sept!) The lifestyle is just so much more relaxed than in NY.
Hope you are having a good night.

PUMP ? /Jan

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

When we went for pump education the other week I was suprised an
example used was a banana split. We were told we just have to cover the
carbs with enough insulin. I am sure you have said before, but do you
follow a schedule or eat when and what you want? Janet

choc

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Hey - Light Bulb Alert:

Does chocolate trigger your migraines???????

I don’t think it would be wise for him to have me for dinner anyway.. as much chocolate etc.. I eat in a day, I’d likely be the end of him.

Loretta,
Am cleaning out old messages and came across the bigamy Q.
(Bi)gamy = 2 wives at the same time [rhymes with big of me]
(Poly)gamy = more than 2 wives at the same time - as in poly meaning many
[rhymes with po-lig-a-me]
