doing the best

You may have to check in the middle of the night more often than just a
little while. Growth spurts upset the apple cart often. Also, monthly
hormone dumps will possibly make basal tweaks necessary. On another list,
they often talk about the mom’s periods affect somehow the girl’s BGs. Not
moods, etc., but it is tracked as a fact just like some have said that in
college dorms by the end of the year all 4-5 roommates have periods the same
week. One young lady just used the CGMS (Continuous Glucose Monitoring
System) for a weekend and they learned all her basals were set incorrectly.
They thought they had it down but that 5-min. (or 12?) automatic testing
proved otherwise. You are getting fresh, up-to-date pumping info that has
come along since I started and it was assumed that the *one* basal rate (my
MiniMed allows 48 possible settings plus temporary basal) was set for
*life.* I have been having to adjust mine lately - again. My endo doesn’t
know I do this but my last A1c was 6.1!
I’m sure you are. I don’t know if I could have handled having a child with
DM. Those hugs you give both of your children mean a lot to them. Happy
Mothers Day. 8^)
