ketone strips

Jan,
That is the type I have too.
Somehow my infusion set got pulled out this morning and I didn’t know it.
Started feeling weird around noon.
Took my test and 551. Started to pull out insertion to reinsert and found
out it was already pulled out.
Can’t believe it….went over 1700 miles with no trouble and great test.
Home one day and this. Sometimes life is such a challenge.

    How long does it take for you to drop down into exceptable range again? I
    think I would be so frightened if I was that high.

    Gail,
    NOW is the time to test for ketones!!! I believe the instructions are to
    drink lots of water and test, test, test to watch it come down with coverage
    boluses or injections. Anyone else with some input on ridding ketones? Nip
    this in the bud before an ER visit is necessary!

    three hundreds makes me scared to death, i can’t imagine it being 551. that
    would probably send me to the er.

    No i don’t check for ketones. My dr has never said anything about it. Of
    course when i gave blood at the office a few months back, she said i had
    ketones. She is my family dr. and she has finally referred me to an
    endocrinologist. I have an appointment with him 5/25, so hopefully he will
    help me better. Thanks for the concern.
