Gail…..and all

Welcome Home, Gail,
We have missed you here at Diabetics. I enjoy you banter with Marius and
missed it very much. I am glad you had a wonderful trip. How did Glory enjoy
her vacation? It is nice to be with family, isn’t it?
I had a wonderful time with my girlfriend, Barbara. After the commotion of
the first day thing pretty much settled down. We had so much time to just
hang out at the pool and enjoy each other’s company.
I am not sure if I let the Gang know about my son’s sentence. I know I told
Becki personally but I can’t remember if I posted to the list or not. He was
sentenced to 7mo-2yrs in a minimum security facility. As much as I wish this
didn’t happen I know he will know get all the psychiatric help he needs. I
just hope he takes advantage of it. He was transferred to this facility on
Friday night. He will now be assessed and it will be determined what medical
facility he will go to. We have been talking. He was very happy to see me at
court last Monday. He let me hug him and there were a lot of tears on both

Just got back from Nevada, which was a really big trip for me. I do not
travel well, but did ok this trip. I became legally blind and quit work in
Aug ‘95. I found the “computer” Mar ‘99 and have not been off it since
(until last week). It is my social life, so I write alot (as if you hadn’t
already noticed).
Will close now, but enjoy hearing from you and any questions about me fire
away. Oh, I live in central Illinois.

A school prayer

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

This was written by a teen in Bagdad, Arizona.
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.

good to have you home

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Hi Gail, sounds like you had a good time. It is good to see that you are
back and now having to catch up on all the mail. I am waiting for our
friends to come and we are all going to see “Gypsy”. A good way to
beginning my 30th anniversary week. I think is will go into next week
also. We are going away to Daytona for the long weekend and then come
back and celebrate the actual anniversary the 16th. It will be a fun
time to look forward to. Wish you could come down. We have a lot of
neat things planned for the blind support group. Looking forward to lots
of laughs and good times. Becki

What a difference a century makes . . . .
* The average life expectancy in the US was forty-seven.
* Only 14 Percent of the homes in the US had a bathtub.
* Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone. A three-minute
call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars.
* There were only 8,000 cars in the US and only 144 miles of
paved roads.
* The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
* Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more
heavily populated than California. With a mere 1.4 million
residents,
California was only the 21st most populous state in the Union.
* The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower.
* The average wage in the US was 22 cents an hour. The
