I just took Mr. Jan back to the truck, therefore I’mup.
No, we don’t have many restaurants that cater to diabetics - then they’d
have to consider celiac sufferers, hypertensives, etc., etc. It wouldn’t be
conducive. However, we have a lot of all-you-can-eat buffets. There are
fresh salad makings and lots to choose from. Some have dietetic Jell-O and
some sugar-free pies and puddings. They are all one price and there is no
limit to what you take but they want you to eat it all and you are not
allowed to take any home. Most all serve sugar-free soda pops and/or iced
tea.
I think not. I had *flat hair* when I was 16 and they traded all the
required hats around and gave me the biggest one at Dog ‘N Suds. Still too
small.
Ahhhh, he *bit.*
Do you know what a polecat is??
Gail,
I forgot my breakfast bolus yesterday. Luckily the Humalog can quickly bring
it down. Test immediately and correct as necessary. On that other list they
are using methods to *modify behavior* in children who forget. I think we
get so busy and it just slips our minds. Sat night at that dinner I
conducted we had salads and I told the waitress to take the orders at 6:15.
She came around and collected salad plates and I reminded her we needed to
have our meals. She then proceded to take the 31 orders and I asked her to
bring them right away. She said she just turned them in and they had to be
cooked!!!!!!!!!! 8^( I didn’t know when the meals would come so didn’t
want to bolus too early. Well, so that I wouldn’t get caught up in things
and forget to bolus because I also had cherry pie, I laid Bluda Sue on the
table so in case I got up it would flop to the floor and remind me.
Another person said, you pray before you eat, bolus before you eat. Maybe
you need to have a plan to remind you. I know it has been almost 17 years
(more…)

I think the confusion comes in towards the end where the vulture(s) turns
into the rabbits in Babs’ story. Maybe it can be clarified.
The following is a post from my dr. friend who responded to another DMer
about getting pregnant:
Loretta,
It can be frustrating to go in (any dr.) and have them ask you to ________
and it could have already been done. Therefore, I agree with Becki about
calling to have them order an HbA1c (and suggest a c-peptide) NOW so he’ll
have it in hand and not have you get it after the visit and require a return
for that. These other records will really expedite your care. I take 6-10
BGs a day, but being on the pump sometimes requires more due to
circumstances and perhaps a WANTED (as opposed to needed) snack. If you
actively do these things now - time will go much shorter and your visit will
be more fruitful.
And remember, an endocrinologist is just another dr. with a bit more
schooling - intensive training in the matter of endocrine glands of which
the pancreas (and thyroid) is one.
