Loretta,
Gail and I were doing *pump* talk. A pump delivers insulin in 2, no 3 ways.
A basal is the base rate, which is often set at different rates at different
times of the day to meet the individual's basic needs to stay alive. Often a
*temporary* rate is set to override the basal of a certain period due to
increased activity or illness. A Bolus is like a burst - or in other words,
a *shot* infused by the wearer at the time of eating. We eat when we want
to, not because we have to. The basals are delivered automatically
throughout the day. Mine are set at midnight-6:00 a.m. .4u per hour meaning
that every 15 min. I get a 1/10th unit automatically infused. From 6:00-9:00
a.m. it is set for 1.6 per hour which is four times more than those early
hours. From 9:00 a.m.-midnight I receive .7 units per hour meaning every
8.75 minutes I get 1/10th automatically infused. It's the best was to
control the diabeastie at present. 80% of pumpers use Humalog only. Many
children use a mix of Velosulin and Humalog to keep their sites working 3-4
<!--more-->
days instead of one. My sites last about 4-5 days before I need to change an
infusion set and reservoir (which looks like a large syringe). Any other
Q's, feel free to ask.

oops this one came through with a weird symbol for the apostrophe didn't
it.. don't know why it does that.
A Mother¹s Love Is A Haven In The Storm Of Life
anyway here is another one, also by Helen Steiner Rice
A mothers day prayer
Our Father in heaven
whose love is divine,
Thanks for the love
of a mother like mine-
And in Thy great mercy
look down from above
And grant this dear mother
the gift of Your love-
And all through the year,
whatever betide her,
<!--more-->
Assure her each day
that You are beside her-
And, Father in heaven,
show me the way
To lighten her tasks
and brighten her day,
And bless her dear heart
with the insight to see
That her love means more
than the world to me.

<< What makes me mad is when we get invited to barbeques and they
don't have the decency to cater for people specially invited.
This really gets to me to because if they are going to specially invite you
they should at least bring some stuff that you can have.
